Windows XP Mode für Windows 7 braucht keine Hardware-Virtualisierung mehr

Wie Björn in einem Blogbeitrag berichtet, hat Microsoft am Donnerstag bekannt gegeben, das Windows Virtual PC, die in Windows 7 eingebaute Virtualisierungstechnologie, zukünftig keine Hardwarevirtualisierung (Intel VT oder AMD V) für die Ausführung von virtuellen Maschinen benötigen wird.

Microsoft hat deshalb ein Update für Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate oder Enterprise veröffentlicht und stellt dieses ab sofort im Microsoft Download Center zum Download bereit. Dieses Update entfernt die bisher erforderlichen Voraussetzungen für das Ausführen von Windows Virtual PC. Kunden, die den Windows XP Modus bereits nutzen, müssen das Update nicht herunterladen.

Windows XP Modus ist eine neue Funktion von Windows 7 Professional und Windows 7 Ultimate, die zusätzliche Kompatibilität für Anwendungen bietet. Mit Windows XP Modus können Sie viele Ihrer Windows XP-Anwendungen direkt auf einem Windows 7-Computer installieren und ausführen.
